Gastroenterology
A Gastroenterologist (GI) is an Internal Medicine physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive system, stomach, liver and intestines.
Patients generally see a Gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment of ulcerations of the stomach or intestine, tumors of or difficulty with the digestive tract, chronic diarrhea or constipation, hemorrhoids, acid reflux, hiatal hernia or liver disease.
Peter Perakos M.D., Gastroenterologist
Dr. Perakos received his medical degree from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., in 1977. He then moved to the University of Connecticut where he completed his Internship in Medicine in 1978 and his Internal Medicine residency in 1980.
Dr. Perakos then attended State University of New York at Buffalo to complete his Gastroenterology Fellowship in 1983.
